This is a very collectible set of five White Steiff Teddy Bears from 1982. They are absolutely mint in their original box. They have never been removed and, in fact, they are still fastened to their places in the box.
There is a picture of these bears, already out of the box, on page 45 of the book, Collector Steiff Values by Peter Consalvi, Sr. The book says this set of five were offered in 1990, but the box and the tags on the bears say 1982, so I am believing that is the correct date.
They all have the button in their left ears and their white tags which are also fastened to their left ears. The white tag indicates that they are a limited edition. The identifying numbers are 0203/11, 0203/18, 0203/26, 0203/36, and 0203/41. They each have a red and yellow paper disk fastened to their chest. The disk reads: Original Teddybar // Collector's Edition 1982 // Steiff // knopf im ohr. They also have their little tag booklets which tells how to clean them. They wear bright red ribbons around their necks, except for the tiny one.
The bears have been stored for these many years in a room with controlled heat and light. Because of this there is no fading and there are no odors.
These collectible bears are made with white mohair which is very soft and really white. Their noses are brown cord and their eyes are shiny and light brown with black pupils. Their toes are marked with brown cord. Their foot pads are made of heavy felt and are what I would call "skin" color. When I tip the box over there are two growls that can be heard, probably from the larger bears.
The original box for these bears is in very good condition but there is a little bit of scuffing. On the back of the box there is a tag which is coming partly off. The tag reads: Contents and box made in West Germany - Distributed in the United States by Reeves Int'l Inc, NY., Ny.
This collectible set of five Steiff Bears would make a great addition to your collection, or maybe it would be a good time to start a collection.
